She is finally here!

Emily Lisa Gray was born on June 18th at 9:11am weighing 9 lbs 1 0z and 21.5 inches long. What an absolutely beautiful and perfect miracle in our lives. It is still such an awesome feeling to think that I am a mommy now. I just hope and pray that I am able to teach her what she needs to know over the years.

So I went into labor at 1:30 am on the 17th, but the contractions were so sporadic in time and length that I wasn't sure if this was the real deal. I made it through the day cleaning the house and working on a sewing project. The contractions really weren't that bad until about midnight when I timed them again and they went from every 7-10 minutes to every 3.5 minutes, but I still wasn't a hundred percent sure that it was happening. So I decided to try to sleep a little bit which I think I slept about 15 minutes before they were so unbearable I had to get up. Around 1:00 am. I woke Nathan up and I told him that I wasn't sure if we needed to go to the hospital until I decided that it was just too hard to handle anymore.

It was so funny because I was ready to go at 1 am, but it took forever to wake up Nathan and then we had to finish getting our stuff for the hospital, get dressed, and run the dishwasher. Thankfully St. Joe's is only 15 minutes away. When we got there come to find out I was already 6 cm dilated! So by the time I had the epidural I was probably dilated more, and then I had the baby at 9:11 am. Let me tell you I have never had anything hurt so much in my life!

Emily Lisa is such a beautiful little girl. She has my nose and her daddy's mouth. It is still such a strange thing to think that I now have a little girl!

40 weeks 3 days

I had another appointment today. We discussed the options for going past my due date. The midwife said that I am 3 cm, and 75% effaced. She striped my membrane today as well so hopefully as the day goes I will go into labor and the baby will be here tomorrow! If she is still too comfortable in there then we are scheduled to be induced on Sunday. If that happens it will be one busy day- Father's Day, our anniversary and the baby's birthday all in one day. We will see what happens I can't wait!

June 13th

Well my due date came yesterday and went without any signs that baby girl is going to come any time soon. My body is trying to get things going, but I don't think it has quiet registered what is going on yet. So instead she just keeps getting bigger and bigger. Everyone tells me that it is better that they are a little bigger because they are hardier and can hold their heads up sooner, sleep through the night sooner and more. We will just see when she decides that she would like to come out and meet everyone. I'll keep you posted.

39 weeks appointment

I went to my 39 week appointment June 8th. This appointment was kind of interesting because when the midwife checked my cervix she measured me at less than last week. She said that I was 1.5 cm dilated, 80% effaced, and the baby is sitting at -1, but I am going with last weeks numbers 2 cm, 80% dilated, and sitting at a 0. Makes you wonder which midwife is right. Hopefully things will continue to progress, but my braxtons of slowed down a lot so I don't think she is going to come before my due date.

Baby Shower Luncheon

The wonderful women at Honey House Naturals threw me a baby shower on June 2nd. It was a lot of fun they made chicken salad on crescent rolls, spinach salad, punch and a very tasty cake with buttermilk frosting.

It was so much fun and I got lots of fun things for baby girl. Some gorgeous home made blankets, cute little socks that look like shoes, lace tights, a cute crochet hat, moccasins shoes, burp cloths and a couple cute outfits. The one gift that totally surprised me that I didn't even expect. I had been talking about saving up to get one of these for a while, but I never thought that I would be able to get one for a while. The one that I currently have is from 1925 and I have to kick start it every time I stop the machine. Everyone at work pitched in so that I can go out and by myself a brand new sewing machine. I'm not sure what kind yet but I hear Berninas and Brothers are supposed to be good.

I am so fortunate to have such wonderful co-workers and friends.

38 week appointment

I went to my appointment today. 2 weeks before my due date. Here is the update on what is happening:

I am 2 cm dilated, 70% effaced and the baby is sitting at a 0 which is a good thing because that means that she will be able to fit through my pelvic area. The midwife is predicting that the baby will be weighing in the high 7's low 8's which is a relief for me.

We are all set to go if she would just decide to come all ready. We packed our bags yesterday, and started to pack up the house for our big move. This is such an exciting time! Can't wait to see what she looks like.
