I'm on the move now!

Emily finally started to crawl on February 15th! We are in trouble now! She is already driving me nuts getting into everything. She is so funny because she hasn't learned how to use both knees yet. She still thinks that she has to use her foot on one side. Well, take a peek:

hair cut

About a month ago we finally decided to cut off Emily's mullet. It was such a hard thing for me to do but it had to be done. It was looking so scraggly. So one night I decided to bring out my scissors and chop it off. It took off like 3 inches! She looks so much better now.

Look at that cute little neck meat! It is so adorable I could just eat it up. Since cutting it I have been wishing that I had cut it sooner. She looks so grown up now.

February

Here is February at a glance:
I love her blue blue eyes with her face covered in peas

My new favorite chew toy

My favorite hiding spot

I love to play with the window. One day I sat there screaming and smacking my hands on the window.

One night I had a rough time falling asleep. Mommy and Daddy found me sitting in my crib with tears running down my cheeks. I just needed a little extra lovin'

Me and Grampys

I'm learning how to pull myself up on furniture

Mommy pulled out some bowls and a spoon, and I had a fun time banging on them and making lots of noise.

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day was a little different for us than the past couple of years. Our first one together Nathan proposed (you can read about it here) so this day is always a special one for us, and last year it was just the two of us.

This year we decided that we wouldn't spend a whole lot of money on each other. I was so excited because I found a really cute idea for love coupons over at The Dating Divas they have some coupons on there that you can print out yourself. I took the ideas they had and googled to find other coupon ideas. I ended up with about 72 different ideas. It was a lot of fun putting this together, and I really hope that they will help us to spend time more with each other and to continue to get to know each other.

Nathan came home and surprised me with a gorgeous vase of a dozen roses and a box of See's Chocolates. He is so cute he even got Emily a little box of her own. I think he might have to help her eat hers this year. He is such a sweetheart I love him so much! We had a lovely dinner of steak, shrimp and garlic mashed potatoes, and we actually had our first candle light dinner. We ended up waiting to eat dinner until after Emily went to sleep. As every mommy and daddy know it is a little bit easier to eat dinner when you don't have a screaming baby grabbing everything on the table, balanced on your knee, and trying to eat with one hand. We had such a wonderful day. Each year gets better and better. I can't wait to see what next year has in store.

Accomplishments

Over the past couple of weeks Emily has learned how to do so many new things. She now will wave hi to people, and during church she learned how to clap. It is the cutest thing ever. Every time she claps she gets the biggest grin on her face ever. She She can scoot around and get into everything, and her newest trick is that she can sit up on her own. I think any day now she will be pulling herself up on everything! and as soon as she learns how to do that it won't be long before she is walking. She has been wanting to walk since practically day one. Oh, she has also learned how to say da-da, and she is starting to give kisses. It is so cute! I am so excited to see what other new things she learns how to do.

Go to sleep little baby...

Almost 3 weeks ago I discovered such a wonderful thing... Sleep Training! The night after we started this she went down and slept 10 hours and every night since then we have gotten 10 to 12 hours straight! What is this sleep training you ask? Well, there are several different methods, but the one that we chose to do starts with rocking her until she is drowsy and then laying her in her crib. You have to walk out of the room even if she is crying. Let her cry for 2 minutes and then go in and comfort her while she is still in her crib, but only for a minute or two. You then have to walk out of the room and let her cry 5, 7 12, and then 15 minute increments until she finally falls asleep on her own.

The first night we tried this it took her an hour to fall asleep and she woke up at 4, and cried another hour. The next night it took 50 minutes and she slept 10 hours straight! The first 4 or 5 days it took her about 45 minutes to fall asleep and now she just lays in bed quietly until she falls asleep and sleeps 10 to 12 hours straight. It is so wonderful! Before we were getting up every 3 hours with her and she would just scream and scream for an hour or so each time so this is a major step up.
