New Years Eve

This New Years Eve was a little low key this year. We were going to have a bunch of family over, but it didn't really work out that way. My parents were able to come over for pizza and then we watched 'The Help' a really long but cute movie. We rang in the New Year watching the Space Needle and drinking some sparkling cider. I don't know where 2011 went, but hopefully we will be able to make 2012 amazing!

Surprise!

On New Years Eve after getting back from our trip we headed up to the Gray's to see Nancy and Bill before they headed back to Provo. We didn't stay for very long my parents were coming over to see a movie and have dinner. Before we headed home we all went out to see some fireworks, and as we are heading out to the car Nathan hands me a set of keys which didn't belong to any of our cars. I was so confused and said, "What is this?" his reply, "Your car." I was so confused and didn't believe him because I didn't think he would go out and buy a car without me. Plus I was so tired from the trip. It ended up being a 2004 Lincoln Aviator. Such a nice car and it looked brand new. What a fun surprise. Unfortunately as we were heading home the check engine light came on and we had to take it in on Tuesday to be worked on. The dealership had it for almost a couple of weeks and they finally got back to us letting us know that we had to come in and either choose a different car or get our money refunded because it was going to cost too much money for them to fix the car (we had a 30 day warranty thankfully). So we are now back to our Honda, but hopefully someday we will be able to find the car that is meant for us.

Utah Trip

A couple of days after Christmas my mom and dad and I headed down to Utah to be at Matt and Tiffany's wedding. We had to leave for the airport at 3 in the morning. Unfortunately for me little Emily had a really hard time falling asleep. I think she knew what was going on (I think kids know a lot more than we give them credit). She screamed probably from 9 until 1. She was just fine when I held her and would fall asleep and then the instant we put her in her bed she would start crying again. So we decided just this one time that we would let her sleep in bed with us. I think we did it more out of desperation more than anything. So the next day I was running off of 4 hours of broken up sleep. I felt like I had pretty much been awake for 24 hours.

We made it to Utah around 9 and then waited for my sister to arrive around 10:30. The first day we went and saw Mormor, and went to Tai Pan Trading the coolest home decor store ever. I wish that we would get one in Washington. Decent prices and fun stuff. then we made our way up to Logan. Did a little bit of shopping here at Downeast Outfitters and really fun modest clothing store

Then next day was the wedding which I wrote a post about, and then the following day we made our way down from Pocatello, ID and after checking in to our hotel we went to Hobby Lobby and Seagull Book. I was able to get Matt and Tiffany a framed Proclamation to the Family. We also went and saw Mormor again (She is not doing so well and is on the decline.)

Friday was another busy day spent going to Provo to take Tiffany's wedding dress back to Gowns by Pamela and then heading over to the newly weds apartment to see them before we headed back home. We took them to Costco to get a few things for the apartment and Mom and Dad got them a Kitchen Aid. Then it was back to West Jordan to see Mormor and to go to my Aunt Kris's to visit. I was able to go grocery shopping with Jess to see her for a bit. Luckily we were able to squeeze in that time. I really wanted to see her new house, but that will have to be for another trip. Jess looks fantastic by the way my new inspiration! Then later that evening after going to say goodbye to Mormor we went over to my Aunt Terrie's house to visit for a bit.

It was such a long, jam packed trip but we were able to see lots of people and do lots. I will say that at the end of the week I sure was ready to head home and have a good long rest.

Matt and Tiffany

What a wonderful day December 28th was when Matt and Tiffany were married for time and all eternity in the Logan Temple. It made for a crazy day, but it turned out so nice. It was so much fun to be a part of their special day because it brought back so many memories of when Nathan and I had gotten married.

I think every wedding needs a hiccup of some sort. For these two their hiccup started the night before when Matt got into Logan and soon realized that his back pack was forgotten down in Provo which is almost 3 hours away! He was a little stressed because he wasn't too sure if he had any underwear in his suitcase. Luckily he opened it up and found that underwear right on the top! The only thing we had to do was go get him his toiletries from the store. The next morning around 6/6:30 Matt gets a frantic text from Tiffany wondering if she had left her wallet in his car. He ran down to check and sure enough it was on the floor of his car. We got to the temple at 10:00 and as we are waiting for Tiffany to come we see her drop to her knees outside the door and start digging frantically through her bag. Matt went out to see her and poor girl burst into tears. She could not find her living ordinance card (come to find out they still have not been able to locate it). Luckily they were able to call the temple that she got her endowment at and they were able to fax a copy over.

The sealer did such a wonderful job, and it was so much fun to see Matt and Tiffany come walking in and to see all the stress of the day gone. It is amazing how powerful and peaceful the temple is. The sealer talked about the blessings of the temple and how we can call upon those blessings at anytime. He also talked about the family and how they should have a copy of the Proclamation to the family up in their home (We ended up getting them this for their home).

We did pictures afterwards, and thankfully it wasn't as cold as it could be. Luckily we had thought ahead and brought hand warmers for them. Lunch was so yummy. We had it at the Copper Mill down the road from the temple. Delicious salads, paprika chicken and garlic mashed potatoes, and a raspberry cream pie. Then on the road again for us. We had to make the long trek up to Pocatello, ID where the ring ceremony and the reception was being held. Everything turned out really nice. Gorgeous ceiling, and yummy chocolate fountain.

I am so excited for these two to start their life together and to get to know Tiffany more. They look so happy and so in love with each other. What a wonderful way to start eternity together.
