Birthday Girl!

I am so far behind in my blog posts, but Emily hid our camera from us. We couldn't find it for 3 or 4 weeks now. I thought for sure she had thrown it in the trash, but we found it tucked away in our bedroom closet. I am so glad that we were able to find it and be able to be reminded of all our fun memories. I truly believe that there are finding angels.

Back on June 18th we celebrated Emily's one year Birthday. It is so hard to believe that one year has flown by already, and I hear that time only goes faster and faster. I have been planning her party for over a month, and I think it turned out really fun. We ended up doing a pink polk-a-dot theme. I made a circle garland. I got the idea for the invite here, and made a birthday banner using my gypsy and cricut. Her party was a lunch and dessert party. We had deli sandwiches, fruit, vegies, chicken pasta salad, pink oreos, and cupcakes.

I made a teeny tiny cake for her.

.

We had such a wonderful turn out, and Emily had such a fun time being the center of attention. She could not get over all of the flashing lights and singing toys. She was such a gracious little girl. With every single present she got so excited and had to show it to everyone. Even if it was clothes or a book.

Emily loved her cake. A little leery about it to begin with, but after a few nibbles she dove right in. She didn't really know what to do with the candle either. We had to blow it out pretty quick because she wanted to touch the flame.

I just love this little girl. It has been so much fun being her mom this past year. I can't wait to continue to see her little smiling face, and be a part of all of her new discoveries and developments! To another fun year with our Emily Girl!

Quilt

In our ward we are doing a service project where we are making quilts for the church. I volunteered to make one of the quilt tops. I probably shouldn't have since Emily's Birthday is the following week, but I have never done a service project like this and I have always wanted to participate in something like this. I thought this would be really fun especially since it is something that I am trying to learn how to do.

It is not the most beautiful quilt ever, but it is just the fabric that we all had on hand. I forgot to take a picture of the quilt, but I had a lot of fun making it, and it really wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. A little practice for other quilts I make down the road.

Helping Daddy

Emily is such a funny little girl. The other day Nathan was putting the felt bottoms on the chair legs, and as he was hammering them on she was over there wanting to help him. She even picked up one of his screw drivers and started to use it as a hammer to help hammer them on. She is going to totally be Daddy's little helper!

Xylophone

Emily's Birthday is on June 18th. We took her to Toys R Us to find her a little Birthday present. After trying out all the toys, and having Elmo scare her, she picked out a xylophone. We bought it and brought it home putting it in the corner of the kitchen that she never goes with the rest of the Birthday stuff. Well, the little stinker discovered it the Sunday before her Birthday, and started to play with it. I guess you could say I am glad that she likes it, but no surprise for her Birthday.

Point Defiance

On Memorial Day we took a picnic to Point Defiance. It was such a beautiful day for a picnic. Started out a little overcast, but the sun came out at the end of the day. Grammys, Grampys and Uncle Matt came with us. We had so much fun walking around the park looking at the different gardens. It wasn't exactly the best time of year for flowers, but it was still so beautiful. Nathan had never been here before so that was really fun to see him experience one of my favorite parks for the first time.

Emily loved the beach. She really enjoyed playing in the sand. Her favorite thing was picking up all of the rocks and handing them to everyone. She especially loved to put them in her mouth. She is little miss fearless. We waded into the water and the waves didn't even frighten her. She wanted to sit down and play in it.

Little goof ball looks so little next to the Dinosaur Food leaf.

The Gang in front of a Redwood

I love how this picture turned out. We were trying to get a picture with the Redwood branches behind Emily. I love how Nathan is looking up and Emily is smiling and reaching towards him.

First time on the beach!

Check out my rock!

Toy Basket

Why do we even bother buying our children toys? Emily doesn't hardly ever play with hers. She prefers to sit on top of the toys in her toy basket.

Walking

A couple of weeks ago Emily started to walk. It is so crazy how fast she has gotten comfortable walking. In a week she went from walking along things and from object to object, to letting go and taking a few steps, all the way to walking non stop around the house. I just love watching her walk around it is so funny seeing a little person walking.
