Pumpkin Carving

We got a pumpkin this year when we went to the pumpkin patch, and we ended up carving pumpkins with the Grays! We had so much fun the other night carving pumpkins with everyone. I'm not really sure what Emily thought of the carving aspect. We put her in front of the pumpkin, and she played with the spoon a little bit. She did not like the guts at all, and when she got it on her hands she was like yuck! and would not touch anything or move her fingers at all. Nathan did a wonderful job carving our pumpkin.

Chocolate Festival

Nathan and I came across discounted tickets to a chocolate festival in Seattle on Groupon. We decided to go. I like chocolate so we figured we couldn't go wrong. It was a lot of fun, and was one of our first big dates in a long time away from Emily. We weren't quite sure what to expect as we were heading up to Seattle Center, and after getting un-lost we made our way to the festival. It ended up being tons of vendors with chocolate samples out. I never thought I would say this but after a while of eating chocolate I got a little sick of it, and started to be a little more selective in the chocolate I tried. It was tons of fun, and I really enjoyed the day with my sweetheart!

Halloween Costumes

Last year after Halloween we went to Target, and got Emily's Halloween costume for this year on clearance. Unfortunately the body of it was a little small so I found a cute little dress tutorial online to go with the head piece. Emily ended up being one of the Pizza Planet squeaky toy aliens from the Toy Story movies. Since she was being that Nathan and I decided to be Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head. I found a picture of the costumes online and just made up the patterns as I went. I think they turned out really well.

I had so much fun making these costumes. They the Potato Heads were a little trickier than I thought because the Heat and Bond would not bond so I ended up having to hand sew each face piece on, but I really like the way they turned out. Now what to be for next year? Does anyone have any suggestions?

Halloween Crafts

This year I got so excited for Halloween, and especially with making Halloween crafts. I found so many cute ideas on my new huge addiction Pinterest. I just love Pinterest! It is virtual pinboards where you can 'pin' the things you like into different categories to help organize the things that you find online instead of bookmarking everything. The things you pin are then shared with your followers who can repin what you have pinned and you can repin anything that you see that you like. You will have to look me up. Here are some of the projects for Halloween that I found. I think they turned out really well.

Creepy Crawlies

I found this tutorial to make cute little spiders out of beads. I think they turned out really well, but they took forever to make because the seed beads were all different sizes and about half of the beads would not fit on the wire. I tweaked the pattern a little. I did 25 beads on the two front legs, 30 on the third, and 35 on the back legs. I think I am going to make a bunch of these and see if I can make them into napkin rings, magnets and a barret clip. Who knows what else I can do with these cute little guys? But they will be a fun little addition to my Halloween decorations next year.

Pumpkin Patch

This year we went to the Farm Fresh Pumpkin Patch up in Bonney Lake. It was a lot of fun especially since this was Emily's first time at the patch. This one had a ton of things to do if you paid for them like taking a ride in a monster truck, and going through the corn maize. There were other things to see as well like farm animals, and of course the patch. We had a lot of fun with Grammys, Grampys, and Uncle Nate.
